Key Responsibilities:
Protection System Coordination & Design Review:
-Review and validate protection schemes, relay settings, and coordination studies as per project specifications.
-Ensure compliance with international and utility standards such as IEC, IEEE, and SEC (Saudi Electricity Company).
-Work closely with design teams to resolve protection-related technical issues.
-Oversee installation, configuration, and testing of protective relays and SCADA systems. -Ensure proper settings and coordination between main and backup protection schemes.
Fault Analysis & Troubleshooting:
-Conduct fault recording analysis and event reports for any abnormal occurrences.
-Investigate relay malfunctions or protection failures and implement corrective actions. -Assist in analyzing short circuits, relay coordination failures, and unexpected trips.
Documentation & Compliance:
-Ensure compliance with utility (SEC) and international safety & protection standards.
-Submit as-built drawings and final relay setting reports for client approval.
Coordination with Stakeholders:
-Work closely with testing & commissioning teams, contractors, consultants, and utility providers. -Participate in site coordination meetings and technical discussions with clients and project teams.
-Liaise with relay manufacturers (Siemens, ABB, GE, Schneider, etc.) for technical support and troubleshooting.
Qualifications & Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
-Minimum 5 years of experience in protection coordination, testing, and commissioning of HV/EHV substations (132kV - 380kV & above).
-Strong understanding of relay protection schemes for transformers, transmission lines, busbars, and generators.
-Hands-on experience with numerical relays from Siemens, ABB, GE, SEL, and Schneider.
-Familiarity with relay setting software (e.g., DIGSI, PCM600, Mincom S1, SEL Accelerator).
-Knowledge of SEC standards.
