Job Purpose
As a Sr. Scientist (in Process Engineering), you will be working in the Glycols Technology Department as part of the Global Technology & Innovation (T&I) organization. As a process engineer you will provide a world class technical service support in process and assistance to SABIC plants in improving the existing technologies, suggest process improvement and applied process engineering to enhance the added value and competitive edge of those plants. Keeps up to date of latest related technology developments in the market. Responsible to Lead program progress – within global STC and report all progress to technology management in agreed intervals.
Strengths in conceptualizing and scaling up processes from lab scale to pilot and then to demo / commercial scale incorporating suitable validated solutions when engineering the process. Leads and supports projects (local and global ) including mega project from CPD till Start up and commissioning. Builds and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Leading the projects, milestones responsibility of developing and maturing SABICs proprietary technology solutions in the area of Ethylene Oxide / Ethylene Glycol.
Key Accountabilities
-Addresses safety-related technology aspects and assesses underlying risks at advanced level of complexity to mitigate operational and safety risks.
-Protects the company’s IP position by filing, monitoring and evaluating patents and work on IP strategy to enable application in Manufacturing.
-Identify, define and execute improvement projects to enhance the performance of existing EG production plants in terms of energy efficiency, specific feed consumption and reducing CO2 and other Environmental footprints.
-Develop and apply advanced / integrated process models at conceptual design level to modify and improve processes and plant performance driven by cost-effective production, energy intensity reduction and carbon neutrality targets.
-Provide technical support, trouble shooting and process guidance to EG plants at SABIC affiliates aiming at process optimization, process safety and consistent and safe operations.
-Continuously monitor assigned plant processes actual performance (yield, production, energy, sustainability, etc) and promptly engage with Plant operation Management to manage short and long term performance issues. -Assess new process technologies and provide appropriate recommendation to site management.
-Contribute to Glycols technology roadmap development as per SABIC strategy including improvement and growth opportunities for the existing assets by providing techno-economic feasibility study to Business Unit and affiliates.
-Performing detailed analysis of plant data and associated laboratory data to assess the plant performance and provide recommendations / corrective actions to optimize the plant operation.
-Innovation contribution with larger team to create and deliver new ideas for Glycols project portfolio as per Business strategy and guideline.
-As an expert in the area of modeling and simulations (both fundamental and flowsheet modeling) and has good track record of developing conceptual design packages, seeing them through implementation and project cost estimation and economic analysis
-Highly adhere to EHSS & Compliance best practices and updating safe practices through proper trainings.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D or Master’s and B.E. Degree in Chemical Engineering
Minimum Experience:
-PhD, MS and B.E. in Chemical engineering
-Minimum industrial experience 7 to 10 years. Greater number of years of experience with lesser degree of education
-Exposure and knowledge acquired in various commercial technologies / state-of-art and developing technologies in Ethylene Oxide / Ethylene Glycol manufacturing
-Strong analytical skills
-Strong communication and writing skills
-Demonstrated leadership skills
-Ability to solve ambiguous, less-defined problems
Job Specific Skills:
-Experience in simulation and modeling skills using tools like Aspen Plus/Aspen Hysys/Aspen Custom Modeler, EDR, HTRI
-Experience in developing H&MB for existing, new and modified processes
-Experience in process optimization, process improvements, DBN, energy / sustainability optimization and reducing CO2 / environmental footprint.
-Excellent project management skills.
-Able to critically analyze complex problems and propose feasible solutions.
-Able to carry out techno-economic feasibility studies for new and modified process configurations.
-Able to deliver Conceptual Design Package along with economic feasibility for any improvement project.
