OFFICE TIMING: 10.00 AM TO 5.00 PM (MON TO SAT)
Minimum Requirements:
-Completion of Secondary (12 years) education science stream.
-Minimum 10 years on the job experience in an assay laboratory.
-Fair spoken and written English
Basic Function:
Carries out analysis and testing of ore samples to determine mineral content – gold, silver, copper, zinc, etc. and reports results accordingly.
Work Performed:
-Receives work assignment and ore samples from Chargehand, Wet Assay. Includes types of analysis and tests to conduct, chemicals and equipment to use, etc.
-Carries out prescribed tests and analysis in accordance with laboratory procedures to determine mineral content (gold, silver, copper, zinc) of the sample. Includes double checking own work to ensure the results are accurate and consistent.
-Conducts special tests such as water analysis as required.
-Records assay results into logbook and informs supervisor accordingly.
-Reports to supervisor shortage of materials, faulty equipment, hazardous situations, etc. for further action.
-Practices good house keeping and observes safety regulations and procedures.
-Performs other similar or related duties as required.
