Purpose of the Job
Carpentry expertise to construct and maintain various track components, ensuring their functionality and longevity.
Responsibilities
-Interpret blueprints and specifications for trackwork formworks, focusing on wooden or steel components.
-Select, measure, cut, and assemble formworks, utilizing hand and power tools.
-Install and secure formworks using carpentry techniques and appropriate fasteners.
-Maintain a clean and organized work area, keeping tools and materials readily available.
-Collaborate with masons, trackworkers, and other crew members to ensure smooth project flow.
-Adhere to all safety protocols and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program (or minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
Desired Knowledge / Experience
-Proven experience working with formworks in a construction setting.
-Strong understanding of carpentry principles, including material properties, construction methods, and woodworking tools.
-Ability to read and interpret blueprints and trackwork specifications.
-Ability to lift and carry moderate weight (up to 50 lbs).
-Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
-Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
-Experience working on track installation projects is a plus.
-Knowledge of safe lifting techniques and proper ergonomics.
-Experience using formworks machinery relevant (e.g., band saws, planers).
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with other trades
