Purpose of the Job
Ensuring the precise alignment, elevation, and geometry of newly installed tracks.
Responsibilities
-Conduct pre-construction surveys to establish baseline data for track alignment and elevation.
-Interpret blueprints and trackwork specifications for dimensional requirements and tolerances.
-Set up and operate surveying equipment (e.g., total stations, optical levels, digital levels) accurately and efficiently.
-Perform track surveys throughout the construction process, monitoring alignment, elevation, and cross-level of track components (rails, ties, ballast).
-Calculate and stake out critical track control points (e.g., curves, switches) according to design specifications.
-Verify the vertical and horizontal alignment of installed rails using surveying techniques.
-Analyse survey data and identify any deviations from specifications, reporting them to the project engineer promptly.
-Prepare clear and accurate survey reports and documentation for project records.
-Collaborate effectively with track installation crews to ensure smooth project flow and timely completion.
-Assist with quality control inspections of trackwork, verifying compliance with design parameters.
-Maintain all surveying equipment in good working order and calibrate them as needed.
