Qualifications:
-High school graduate or equivalent is required.
-Trained and 5 years experience in piping and structural steel welding.
-Basic knowledge of mathematics and geometry skills.
-Blueprint reading and hand sketching of isometrics.
-Capability of gas, electric and heli-arc welding. Certified and qualified by company testing methods.
-Basic knowledge and can differentiate the various grades of steels and alloys.
-Trained on the basic acid technique to test stainless steels.
-Shall be able to weld steels, steel alloys and stainless steels.
-Trainable in welding exotic alloys and materials, i.e. Monel, Hastelloy, Aluminum, etc.
-Can work both in the shop and field environments, i.e. Furnaces, Boilers, Vessels, etc.
-Self starter and willing to work off hours as required by plant needs.
-Candidate must have Equate Card. (Shutdown / Turnaround) experience.
Job Description
The Welder provides welding skills in the shop and field areas to support the equipment maintenance. Performs welding skills for repairs and refurbishing of piping and mechanical equipment. Also assists in the modification and fabrication of piping and structural steel. Develop hand sketches and piping isometrics in support of the modification and fabrication of welded pieces used on the maintenance activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Welding and fabrication of piping and mechanical components.
-Operation of gasoline, diesel and electric welding machines.
-Isometric and hand sketching of piping spools and structural steel.
-Correct application of base metal welding materials and procedures.
-Repairs, alterations and modification of equipment components and parts.
-Maintenance and upkeep of the welding equipment.
-Welding shop housekeeping.
-Ensures that all welding tools and equipment are in good and safe conditions.
-Complies with all the HSE policies and procedures.
