Job Details
-Operate the CNC roll grinding machines, dechocking and chocking and other related equipments (jib cranes) and conduct chock servicing/maintenance to produce high quality ready spare rolls according to specified finish.
-Clean and maintain the equipments to ensure optimum utilization and dimensional and surface finish accuracy.
Roll Grinding
-Operate the grinding machine to its maximum quality and productivity performance.
-Maintain proper record relating to rolls.
-Properly check, clean and preserve the rolls.
-Identify and evaluate roll grinding quality problems, suggesting solutions and corrective measures.
Roll chocking and dechocking
-Prepare ready spare rolls by operating the roll chocking and dechocking machines to mount and dismount rolls from the chocks and the brush/stripper bar.
-Maintain proper records of rolls prepared.
-Identify and evaluate problems related to roll chocking and dechocking, suggest solutions and corrective actions.
Chock Servicing and Maintenance
-Overhaul chocks and bearings.
-Clean and measure chocks and bearings, evaluate and recommend corrective measures.
-Operates the jib crane and other roll and chocks lifting devices.
-Continuously check and monitor equipment condition.
-Support commissioning activities during the start-up phase of the plant.
-Coordinate with other manning for safe and productive operations.
-Enforce good standards of housekeeping in the areas worked.
-Remove and store rolls in designated storage racks using roll handling and lifting equipments. 1
-Maintain safe working condition in the Roll Shop area and follow safe working procedures and instructions.
-Identify EHS, operation and quality issues/problems and report to RS Supervisor for immediate action.
-Follow emergency response plan during emergency.
-Maintain close coordination with all Roll Shop floor operators
-Inform the Roll Shop Supervisor immediately of any operation difficulties.
-Participate in the effective implementation of Health, Safety and Environment Management System.
-Performs other similar and associated duties as required by the Roll Shop Supervisor.
-Follow company rules and regulations, labor laws and management directives.
Perform plating function at the chrome plating facility as follows:
-Follow appropriate and proper safety instructions related to chrome plating.
-Inspect the rolls for defects.
-Perform roughness measurements as required.
-Fix the appropriate lifting collar to the work roll and move the roll in the vertical position over the wash tank,
-Rotate wash and rinse the roll in the wash tank. Ensure no dirt in the roll barrel.
-Lower the roll into the plating tank, secure the copper buss to the roll, then initiate plating sequence through the PLC.
-Rinse the roll after plating, return the roll in horizontal position, inspect the roll after plating, wrap the roll and deliver to the roll stands.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Qualifications: -
Minimum high school graduate.
Experience: -
-Three 3 years operational experience in operating a CNC roll grinding machine.
-Detailed technical knowledge of the specific process being operated is required.
Skills:
-Use of basic hand tools and precision measuring equipments like micrometers, hardness testers and roughness testers.
-Written / Communication skills in English and/or Arabic.
-Technical Knowledge of rolls, and roll assembly accessories, their defects and preparation.
-Basic computer operation.
-Slinging and rigging skills.
-Operation of jib crane.
