Job Purpose:
Provides technical expertise and advice to Static Equipment Engineering section and Operations Management in the key areas of Integrity, corrosion, inspection and metallurgical engineering to meet FIMS and the Company’s production objectives in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. Coaches and mentors Corrosion, Integrity and Programmatic engineers. Provides technical leadership in support of Static Equipment Engineering Manager and Section Heads and assists in coordination of complex Integrity/Corrosion activities.
Key Result Areas
-Provides expertise and technical leadership in the development, implementation of FIMS and continuous improvement to the Corrosion Management and facilities inspection Programs.
-Coaches and mentors both national and expatriate direct hire employees.
-Leads cross functional teams to conduct fitness-for-service evaluation, failure analysis or Task Force to address facility integrity initiatives.
-Keeps abreast with new inspection and materials technology and static equipment standards and evaluates applicability for application at RasGas.
-Provides advice on static equipment inspection and repair procedures. Equipment includes Pressure vessels, heat exchangers, valves, piping, pipelines, lifting equipment and plant/platform structures.
-Conducts audit on FIMS effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
-Conducts quality checks on Risk Based Equipment Strategies for static equipment developed by RBES teams.
-Advises Group level management on complex integrity issues to facilitate decisions on implementation of company strategy.
Operating Environment, Framework and Boundaries:
-Work covers all areas of the LNG, AKG and Helium plant facilities, the offshore installations and sub-sea pipelines and port areas. Much of the work involves close collaboration with Operations.
-Works in a developing environment where priorities are changing - guidelines are clear but procedures are continually changing and developing.
-Needs to provide direction and to work effectively in a complex multi-national, multi-disciplinary environment.
Communications and Working Relationships:
-Internal - frequent contacts with various teams, Engineers, Engineering Heads, Engineering Managers, Asset Managers, Expansion Manager, and Operations Manager to discuss, plan and carry out work activities.
Outside - frequent contacts with RasGas Project Management Teams for the Expansion Projects, contractors, vendors, and external agencies.
Problem Solving/Complexity:
Work requires analytical, interpretative and constructive thinking, with a significant degree of evaluative judgement.
Knowledge Skills and Experience:
-Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering. MSc in a relevant discipline is an advantage.
-With formal training and appropriate qualifications and has strong knowledge of the relevant international Codes & Standards.
-Strong technical background with 20 years relevant experience, with minimum 10 years in the oil & gas industry with LNG exposure. Experience in an operating environment and proven experience on an advisory level is necessary. .
-Understanding of corrosion principles, safety and environmental requirements, and risk assessment. Understanding of RGEE System requirements and application.
-Must have a high level of computer literacy with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software and integrated business systems (e.g. SAP).
-Good adaptability to a multinational environment. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with and supervise a team.
