We currently have an opportunity for a Traffic Modeller based at Doha, Qatar. Working in a multidisciplinary team, this is an ideal opportunity for individuals looking to develop their international experience with a rapidly evolving organization.
Responsibilities - Part of the Traffic Unit providing technical inputs in the area of traffic modeling, intersection analysis and demand forecasting.
-Liaison with engineers and technicians from within the organization and with external consultants and contractors
-Carrying out demand forecasting and transport model analysis required to assist with the traffic impact studies
-Reviewing and checking traffic study reports and impact analysis reports prepared by consultants and contractors for various road and development projects.
-Work closely with related teams and develop traffic congestion management plans by providing data and technical support as needed
-Work closely with external stakeholders and the planning department and co-ordinate the preparation of necessary analysis, reports and plans.
-Perform other related duties based on the requirements of the organization
Essential Requirements
-BSc / BEng or equivalent degree in Civil Engineering from an institute of repute.
-Minimum 10 years of relevant and demonstrable experience.
-A strong understanding of transport modelling, demand forecast and multi-modal methodologies.
-Practical understanding of the role and importance of transport planning in development access, citywide mobility and assisting people’s needs.
-High competence in VISUM and VISSIM software
-High competence in capacity analysis of intersections including priority, roundabouts and signalized intersections.
-Experience in providing the appropriate model analysis to assist traffic impact assessments
-Highly competent to prepare demand forecast driven technical proposals
-In depth knowledge of design standards and procedures.
-Excellent written and verbal English language communication skills.
-Self-motivated and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Desirable Requirements
-Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (Traffic / Transportation) from an institute of repute.
-Project experience in the Middle East and familiarity with local trends/models and transport planning practices and standards
-Past or recent experience in software such as aaSIDRA, SYNCHRO, HCM, Cube, EMME/2 or similar
