Overall Purpose of Job
-The Fire and Gas Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of F&G equipment of the power plant. He will also inspect, repair, test and make applicable adjustment of all mechanical power plant equipment and systems and assist OEM vendors as required. He shall be CEP certified as per PDO Electrical Safety Rules.
-The F&G Technician works in accordance with established and well known procedures. The F&G Technician performs in a safe manner resulting to no accidents and in compliance with all HSE permits at all times. The F&G Technician must ensure duties are performed in such a way to result in an optimum cost-benefit ratio.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
-Maintenance day to day plant F&G maintenance activities
-Assist in scheduled plant inspections and forced outage situations in the F&G areas
-Follow maintenance practices and procedures in accordance with the OEM manuals
-Participate in the plant weekly operational checks
-Assist in investigation; diagnostic and solve plant F&G issues
-Work is to be performed as per plant work permit and safety procedures
-Certified to Certified Electrical Person (CEP) level as per PDO Electrical Safety rules
-Perform other tasks as requested by the Senior Engineer or Supervisor
-To work safely and in accordance with all company Health, Safety and Environmental rules and recommendations, and be proactive in maintaining a safe working environment.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills Required
-Minimum of national Diploma in C&A and with 5 years experience in Fire & Gas Instruments including UV, Gas Sensors and CO2 Systems.
-Must be capable of fault finding unsupervised.
-Sound knowledge on GTG Control & Instrument along with all other related equipment would be preferable.
-Written and spoken English is a must.
-Knowledge and Understanding of isolation of process plant and equipment
