Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Experience
-Completion of full time secondary education followed by a minimum of three years higher level study at recognised institution.
-B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. 
-Minimum 10 years practical experience in commissioning and maintenance of rotating and mechanical equipment / facilities in the oil / petrochemical or associated industries including a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience covering maintenance installation and trouble shooting of gas turbines, compressors and pumps, with specialist experience of rotating equipment and techniques used for condition monitoring of machinery.
-Must have satisfied the academic requirements for Professional Engineer status or equivalent plus completed relevant manufacturers' courses in gas turbine mechanical systems and vibration analysis.
-Good knowledge of English, both written and verbal.

Primary Purpose of the Job
-Provides expert advice to operations and maintenance personnel in order to maximise the Mechanical Reliability of Rotating Equipment within the production sites of Dukhan Fields. Manages scheduled condition monitoring of rotating equipment and performs non routine troubleshooting on failed or poorly performing equipment.

Principal Accountabilities
-Advises on mechanical and rotating equipment reliability issues in existing and proposed facilities in the Dukhan Fields. Participates as a member of various special or ad hoc committees such as HAZOP study groups and provides technical advice on issues relating to reliability.
-Participates in the evaluation of Plant Change Requests involving installation or modification of rotating equipment and associated mechanical and instrument works. Recommends appropriate solutions to maximise reliability and minimise life cycle costs.
-Liaises with the requesting or concerned parties, such as production and maintenance groups to gather and analyse data, and to make recommendations to the evaluation team.
-Advises on special problems affecting long-term reliability which may arise during construction and commissioning. Liaises with production and maintenance groups in the preparation of commissioning and start-up procedures covering rotating equipment.
-Keeps abreast of technological developments in the field of reliability engineering as it relates to the operation and maintenance of rotating and mechanical equipment.
-Reviews technical journals I magazines and occasionally liaises with equipment manufacturers' to determine new product developments. Develops and maintains a vibration monitoring program on major items of rotating machinery, to analyse data and to diagnose the cause of any unacceptable condition. As technology and reliability practices develop within the department, attend relevant training courses to ensure their effective application.
-Assists in the preparation of predicative and preventive maintenance programmes for rotating equipment in the Dukhan Fields area. Uses performance and breakdown data and or manufacturers recommended maintenance intervals to determine at what frequency maintenance work should be performed. Follows up on actual maintenance work to keep abreast of operating conditions. Liaises with production and area maintenance personnel to coordinate any 'test runs ~ prior to commencement and completion of repairs.
-Troubleshoots rotating equipment mechanical problems, providing technical evaluation of root cause and recommendations for remedial action. Carries out Root cause analysis and After Action Review of major failures.
-Carries out other similar or related duties such as conducting general technical audits on other related equipment as requested; writing technical reports; dealing with emergency situations in the plant, diagnosing faults and providing instructions to production personnel on the operating of equipment, reviewing relevant mechanical engineering standards and codes to ensure that all engineering work is carried out in a safe, timely and cost effective manner.
-Assists in the development of maintenance strategies and analyses planned maintenance tasks to determine the extent they can be replaced by condition based maintenance procedures.
-Acts as leave relief to other Senior Engineers within the Department or to Head of
Reliability.
-Performs as Operations Engineering Duty Officer as per the Duty Roster.
