OFFICE TIMING: 10.00 AM TO 5.00 PM
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Identifies all significant process hazards for the Ruwais Refinery units and components in accordance with the company’s risk management procedures and provides process risk management support for safe operation of process equipment.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Process Safety Operations:
-Takes responsibility forHAZOP analysis on existing and new operating procedures for plant equipment, taking responsibility for all HAZOP, SIL study and other process risk management studies inside the Refinery as directed by management.
-Takes responsibility for process safety in specific operational units as assigned by management. Ensures the approval of all deviations from performance criteria for equipment critical to process safety by carrying out review and approval procedures in accordance with company guidelines.
-Provides process safety expertise and support to the Process Engineering Sections and Laboratory Sections as required in the implementation of new products and processes.
Policies, Systems, Processes and Procedures:
-Takes responsibility for the compilation and updating of Process Safety Management policies, systems, processes, procedures, guidelines and controls.
-Reviews technical standards in coordination with other departments with respect to health and safety risk management content to ensure that all departments’ operations meet best practice standards.
-Participates in updating procedures as per company guidelines or after major projects/revamps.
-Takes responsibility for process risk management audits and their follow up as directed by management.
-Compiles and updates all relevant information for process safety.
-Manages all pre-start up safety reviews (PSSR) for process units.
Planned Maintenance, Shutdown and Startup:
-Provides process safety expertise in the planning and coordination of all maintenance and Shutdown and Turnaround work.
-Closely liaises with other sections to assess requirements for safe operating procedures in regards to the maintenance and shutdown of specific equipment e.g., pumps, compressors, fractionators, heaters, control valves, and other refinery process equipment.
-Manages all Pre-Start up Safety Review (PSSR) for process units as directed by management.
Management of Change:
Participates in the technical evaluation of process safety issues for all management of change activities. (MOCs).
Process Safety Incident Investigation:
Participates in process safety incident investigation and follow up.
Troubleshooting:
-Provides technical analysis of process safety issues when problems occur with Refinery equipment, recommends solutions, and follows up on implementation.
Miscellaneous:
Performs other similar or related activities assigned by the Process Safety Section Head.
JOB MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
-B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering preferably with a qualification in the Health and Safety field.
-Preferably holds a CSP certificate.
Work Experience:
Nine years’ experience in a Process Safety or related role in a petrochemical environment.
Skills:
-Knowledge of the Oil and Gas Industry
-Conversant with OSHA, API, NFPA, ANSI and CCPS
-Good knowledge of quality assurance international standards and procedures
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-Excellent organisational, management and planning skills
-Strong decision making ability
-Ability to manage multiple priorities in a diversified and critical environment
-Proficient in verbal and written English
