Job Purpose
The Cost Control Engineer is responsible for cost monitoring, cost forecasting and ensuring project expenditure is justified and optimally decreased to secure maximum project profitability in coordination with Area Cost Control Manager.
Job Duties
-Assist the Area Operations Manager (Northern / Southern) and the Area Cost Control Manager in developing the Area Cost Control strategy and the related policies, procedures, and systems.
-Involves in Analyzing the terms of contracts and service/purchase agreements for all newly awarded projects set under cost control and establishing control tools accordingly.
-Monitor budgeted projects in terms of expenditure by ensuring that invoices and claims from suppliers and subcontractors are checked, ensuring accuracy against contract, verifying justification documents, and recommending payment processing as per set authority matrix.
-Track closely the project cost status to ensure that expenditures are kept within the project budget and notify the Project Manager of any potential financial issues.
-Review and manage change orders by verifying invoices compliance with set schedule and contract terms, and investigate any cost overrun.
-Ensure that all expenses are timely captured on the system and that purchase orders are properly allocated and charged to the correct project expenditure line and cost code.
-Submit periodic reports to the Management for information.
-Provide support for the professional development of department staff and resources.
Qualifications
-Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
-Minimum 5 years’ experience on similar tasks
-Excellent knowledge of the construction industry
-Excellent command of English
-Technically strong in estimating, project cost planning, scheduling and reporting
-Knowledge in the use of MS Project and Primavera Scheduling software is advantageous.
