Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Education
-B.SC in Science or engineering discipline, Environmental Science/Studies or equivalent education with relevant experience.
-Post Graduate Diploma/Degree in Public/Occupational Health is an advantage.
-Attended courses in Industrial Health/Occupational Health / Public Health.

Experience
12 years experience in the Fields of Public/Occupational Health or Industrial Hygiene with minimum of 3-5 years as Senior Industrial Hygienist in Oil & Gas environment.

Primary Purpose of the Job
-Manages and coordinates the work activities of the HSE (D) Industrial Hygiene section.
-Provides advice and assists departments with compliance to Corporate and Operational Occupational Health and Hygiene Policies, Standard Regulations and Management Systems. To ensure that occupational Health & Hygiene Monitoring is performed in accordance with the State and QP requirements in coordination with Corporate HSE.
-Liaises with Dukhan Operational Departments to identify health and hygiene hazards and recommends corrective measures related to industrial and domestic facilities in Dukhan Fields. Reports and implements recommendations.
-Plans and implements all programmes for Occupational Health for Dukhan operational locations in line with corporate policies and management standards.
-Initiates and supervises studies pertaining to evaluation of health related to operations environments and to makes specific decisions as to the need for, or effectiveness ot: control measures. Provides advice as to the procedures that will be suitable and effective for both the work environment and the natural environment.
-Acquires up-la-date technology, systems, techniques, equipment and training, to improve the knowledge and awareness of relevant Dukhan Operations personnel through educational and awareness programmes.

Principal Accountabilities
-Plans and coordinates the work activities of the Industrial Hygiene section. Exercises financial authority at the level established by Management for the position.
-Plans, coordinates and carry out public health inspection on all types of plants, industrial installations, and facilities in Dukhan, to ensure and control that hygiene and housekeeping standards are being maintained. Prepares reports and implements recommendations.
-Develops monitoring strategies to systematically evaluate Industrial Hygiene exposures for Dukhan operational and domestic areas. Prepares reports and implements recommendations.
In collaboration with Corporate HSE and Medical Services Department conducts industrial hygiene surveys to determine potential exposure to toxic materials, high noise levels, high vibrations or other health related exposures that may be injurious to health and provides appropriate recommendations to mitigate the potential exposures. Implements recommendations.
-Gives technical support pertaining to all matters related to public health, occupational health and hygiene to all departments in Operations (Dukhan Fields) as and when required.
-Exercises independent judgment and initiative in carrying out day-to-day activities in accordance with established policies, procedures and directives. Exercises independent judgment and initiative during the critical early phase of emergency response.
-Monitors implementation of corporate regulations/standards and procedures.
-Develops monitoring/survey documentation requirements management standards. procedures, evaluation criteria line with corporate policies and 
-Specifies and orders appropriate monitoring equipment for use in sampling / collecting exposure areas.
-Conducts programmes for the education of workers and ensures each employee that may potentially be exposed to any hazard is provided with sufficient training in Hazards as regards to its characteristics, adverse effects and the correct use of protective equipment or systems.
-Participates in facility inspections, safety meetings, safety audits, various matrix and study demands, and contributes to own department strategy and policy development.
-Investigates accidents/incidents related to industrial hygiene and submit reports.
-Organizes and conducts awareness training programmes related to public and occupational health in collaboration with Corporate HSE.
-Liaises with concerned operations departments to visit local retail premises; reviews reports and monitors implementation of recommendations as required.
-Liaises with concerned operations departments to examine Dukhan messes; reviews reports and monitors implementation of recommendations as required.
-Liaises with concerned operations departments to inspect schools, security checkpoints, sewage treatment plant, and water pumping stations; reviews reports and monitors implementation of recommendations.
-Liaises with concerned operations departments to collect water samples from the water tanks and cooler units at various plants, industrial and domestic locations and send samples for analysis by competent authorities. Reviews water sample results and reports and monitors implementation of recommendations as required.
-Liaises with concerned operations departments to enforce regulations pertaining to pest control activities. Receives reports of insect or rodent infestation and investigates such reports to identify the breeding sites, as well as recommends, monitors the implementations of remedial action to eliminate the problem.
-Liaises with concerned operations departments to enforce regulations pertaining to food handlers in the messes. Liaises with the concerned parties to organize medical examination and renewal of health certificates as required.
-Prepares reports as required to conduct his duties and keeps records.
-Liaises with concerned operations departments to ensure that an efficient arrangement exists for garbage/medical waste collection, transportation and disposal; reviews reports and monitors implementation of recommendations as required.
-Gives support by providing technical information, as required, for the benefit of Fire Fighting, Search & Rescue and Salvage operations, to mitigate suffering to people and damage to property and environment.
-Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of occupational health related equipment and the operational procedures required to use such equipment, ensuring that he is fully conversant and trained in their use.
-Support HSE initiatives, including the giving of general HSE advice and guidance, to all members of the community, through a variety of agreed community safety initiatives designed to reduce the misery of fire and other emergencies.
