Education / Skills:
-Completion of secondary (12 years) education to ONC level (Ordinary National
Certificate) or equivalent in turbine overhaul and maintenance.
-Fair knowledge of English.
Experience
4 years experience in the maintenance of Gas Turbines, pumps, compressors and associated equipment.
Primary Purpose of the Job
-Assists in diagnosis faults, repairs, overhauls and maintains gas turbines, and process compressors. Directs the work of less experienced technicians in carrying out such activities.
Principal Accountabilities
-Participates in carrying out the scheduled Inspection and Overhaul of gas turbines, gas compressors and associated equipment.
-Tabulates critical measurements and tolerances during the overhaul of plant and equipment. Includes completing a proforma with such data and submitting draft to supervisor for approval before proceeding with major overhauls.
-Using manufacturer parts lists, instruction manuals and drawings, assesses requirements for spare parts. Obtains them from stores using standard procedures.
-Cleans and maintains in good order special tools and equipment.
-Monitors & collect equipment operating parameters when required to ensure effective operation.
-Installs new units as required e.g. after a major failure. Includes turbines, compressors, and related equipment.
-Carries out other similar or related duties such as troubleshooting on maintenance faults, keeping work areas tidy, giving on the job training to Develops.
