Qualification:
Three year course in a technical diploma in mechanical engineering.
Experience:
10 years or more of post diploma experience including 5 years in oil & gas industry at a senior level. This experience should include a minimum 3 years of experience as senior piping designer for offshore oil and gas production facilities. Ability to operate Computer Aided Design (AUTOCAD). Good communication skills. Knowledge of industry and international standards relevant to piping/mechanical design. Good presentation skills.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
-Prepares Concept design drawings for assigned projects in co-ordination with senior process, piping/mechanical or facilities engineers as per Company’s drafting standard ES.D.10.
-Prepares detailed design drawings for in-house Front End Engineering Designs (FEED) and detailed design drawings for fast track projects. Prepares detailed design drawings for in-house detailed design for the works received through the Miscellaneous Work Request System

-Conducts field verification and site surveys of the project sites prior to commencing design work. Liaisons with offshore operation and maintenance staff to gather information and data relevant to the project.
-Disseminates information on company standards, applicable numbering system to QP Specifications.
-Reviews relevant technical proposals and submissions from the consultants with the discipline Engineer.
-Ensures compatibility between piping and structural elements of the offshore facilities.
-Estimates and reports to Lead Facilities Engineer on the man-hour requirement for each assigned project to enable the Lead Facilities Engineer to plan the work.
-Arranges for printing of drawings as requested by Discipline Engineers.
-Participates in technical meetings with consultants to provide guidance and ensure Compliance with QP procedures.
-Plans, co-ordinates and controls work to ensure that delivery schedules are met.
-Maintains records of all conceptual and detailed design work, ‘as built” survey work.
-Assists discipline engineers in preparation of technical comments on design submissions from Consultants and Contractors.
-Assists in review of Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs).
-Retrieves process and piping/mechanical drawings from archives, design office as required for the assigned project.
-Provides Training for Qatari Piping/Mechanical discipline Engineers on AutoCAD, Document Retrieval.
-Reviews and approves Contractor’s piping/mechanical design/engineering Drawings with respect to ES-D-10 requirements for ECS, FEED, EPIC and PIC Contracts to ensure compliance with latest ES-D-10 within the due date given in ASSAIWEB
-Generally responsible for the deliverables listed in Appendix-I.
