Minimum Requirements:
-Higher Diploma Mechanical Engineering.
-Minimum 8 to 10 years experience in maintenance in the Oil or Petrochemical industry.
-or B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) plus 4 to 5 years of experience.
-Good command of English language, written and spoken
Job Purpose & Scope:
Supervise the Island Maintenance, overhaul and repair of mechanical equipment and machinery used in the island's area of activity to ensure that these activities are carried out in accordance with correct procedures and to the required standards.
Principal Accountabilities:
-Supervises the activities of assigned personnel to ensure that their work is carried out correctly and to the required standards. Personally supervise and partiCipate in the preventive maintenance and repair of all mechanical equipment and prepare for planned shutdown work, in close liaison with Team Leader in order to minimize downtime and cost.
-Initiates cold / hot work permits and complimentary permits for works to be performed. Ensure that all necessary procedures and standing orders are followed while the equipment is made ready for safe maintenance intervention after Production approval
-Drafts work orders for approval and consult with Team Leader, Production and other trades to determine in order to prepare a detailed daily work schedule.
-Liaises with relevant personnel in Production and Safety Departments to obtain work permits, and inform Team Leader of any deviation from plan. Liaise with other sections involved in the work.
-Be aware of programmed and un programmed shutdown to take advantage of the opportunity to complete any necessary maintenance tasks.
-Identifies complex faults, analyze breakdowns and malfunctions in order to effect remedial actions including arranging for equipment, tools and material requirements and to subsequently direct Senior Technicians. Proposes any modifications to improve equipment/plant reliability and availability.
-Ensures that work is carried out in a safe manner in line with company HSE System and
Procedures and that good housekeeping practices are exercised.
-Assists in the development of preventive and routine maintenance, recommending changes or modifications to procedures depending on equipment performance and degree of breakdown.
-For the Forthcoming new projects being implemented, as applicable monitor construction & commissioning activities, within other trades, and ensure that these activities are carried out in accordance with the work permits issued.
-Pinpoints the need for spare parts, consumables and tools, and drafts and follow up material requisitions as required to ensure that adequate supplies are maintained for the task. Make recommendations concerning changes in stock levels or materials used depending on equipment performance.
-Ensures that all maintenance and technical documentation is completed correctly and Prepares regular work reports and specific technical reports when required.
-Implements and follow-up Development programme of UAE Nationals Developees and regularly assesses them.
-Monitors the performance of subordinates and appraise their performance in a quarterly and annual basis. Subsequently, identifies training needs of subordinates especially UAE Nationals, initiate training activities for them, and may participate in such training.
