Job Description:
ASIAPOWER OFFICE TIMING: 10.00 AM TO 6.30 PM (MONDAY TO SATURDAY)

Job Purpose 
-Provide technology support to SABIC’s world-scale Olefins plants with focus on identifying and implementing technology improvement projects for overall process chemistry optimization. Analyze key process trends using statistical tools, and translate findings into actionable recommendations to enhance plant safety, improve performance, reduce operating expenditure and increase process reliability. 
-Troubleshooting chronic plant issues, identifying benchmarking performance gaps, developing technical solutions, and preparing technical reports to close gaps based on in-depth analysis of plant data is an integral part of the role. 
-To work in a multidisciplinary setting within the T&I organization where you will collaborate with different disciplines in the business and manufacturing environment where project approval, execution and implementation need to be secured.
-Collect, analyze, and interpret data from lab, and commercial operations to understand the root cause of the problem and to develop appropriate solutions
-Support Olefins plants in identification of root cause of fouling and to develop fouling mitigation strategies along with driving them for realization
-Develop novel patentable concepts, leading to the development of intellectual property

Core Responsibilities
-To define and execute process chemistry-related activities to improve the performance of existing steam crackers in terms of reliability, energy and material efficiency: avoid undesired polymerization, ensure good separation water-hydrocarbons, anti-corrosion, etc. 
-Identifying, developing and implementing short-, mid- and long-term technology projects in Ethylene Steam-Crackers (Liquid/Gas/Mixed) for overall process optimization
-To work in a multidisciplinary setting within the T&I organization where you will collaborate with different disciplines in the business and manufacturing environment where project approval, execution and implementation need to be secured. 
-To support manufacturing and business on technical service requests concerning process chemistry in cracker technology. 
-To deliver process chemistry solutions to improve production and performance in terms of output, energy, quality, consistency and costs. For this, translating plant conditions into experiments, and results into practical recommendations is crucial. 
-Lead Olefins plant troubleshooting efforts to ensure accurate and effective technology solution is provided in a timely manner to address chronic plant issues.

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements 
Academic Qualifications: 
Master’s Degree in Organic/Inorganic chemistry is required; a PhD in Chemistry is preferred. 

Experience: 
-Minimum 7 years of relevant industrial experience (petrochemicals) 
-Experience in Olefins process technology from various feedstock (Ethane, Propane, Butane, Naphtha, etc…) including alternative technologies for steam crackers is advantageous
-Experience in steam cracking process, process chemistry (organic, colloidal, analytical, water chemistry) and have good statistical skills (design of experiments, etc.)
-Experience in heterogeneous catalysis is desired
-Should be a team player and also able to work independently 
-Able to spot opportunities and translate these into value propositions for the business. 
-Able to present project proposals and results in a convincing manner to both business and manufacturing management.
