Qualification
-B.Sc Engineering graduate with 8 years welding experience.
-Detailed practical knowledge & experience of machinery obtained through an Engineering apprenticeship or similar formal training programme.
-Ten years relevant experience in refinery or other related process industry, with a major process Plant Manufacturers.
-Have a good knowledge of the principles, practices & technology associated with the installation, operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment installed in refineries.
-Must have detailed knowledge of craft practices and procedures.
-Knowledge of Maintenance and Operating procedures pertaining to equipment or facilities being worked on. Able to understand Technical Drawings, literature and instructions in English.
-Possess Mathematical ability relevant to his craft job content.
Job Summary
The Company welding Specialist provides welding & associated crafts services to Bapco for the manufacture, repair, modification and testing of all plant & equipment. Develops new welding techniques and gives specialist advice in the use of different methods of welding on work located anywhere within the company's zone of operations.
Key Results Area
-Technical knowledge -Company expert/consultant on all welding issues. Planning & Co-ordination - Daily required to co-ordinate and prioritize with the Supervisor, shops planner and other sections or departments to optimise works carried out by the welding shop staff to assist in maintaining plant availability.
-Develop & train existing Bapco staff and trainees as Skilled Welders and keep appropriate records to ensure that Bapco bas competence, skilled welders for the future. Assist in developing trainees from outside Bapco.
-Data Input - Keep accurate records of all work, carried out utilising the company Maintenance Management System to ensure full auditable compliance with inspection requirements and enable effective cost analysis to be carried out
-Health & Safety - Ensure work is completed safely, to the highest practical standard while maximizing productivity at minimum cost by providing effective planning and supervision. Leads or participates in Daily tool box Talks, Monthly safety meetings, Annual fire and safety training, First Aid training. Medical checkups, all to ensure the wellbeing of staff and plant
-Spare parts & Materials Ordering - Identification of spare parts and materials required for any fabrication, consumables welding equipment maintenance in a pro-active manner. Trouble Shooting - required to interpret drawings, scope of work on site, advise on possible repairs or solutions and prepare a timetable for shop or fieldwork to ensure safe, practical, cost effective solutions are adopted.
