Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Experience
-Completion of Secondary (12 years) education followed by two years formal training in electrical high voltage, medium voltage, low voltage switchgear, control protection relays or similar to ordinary national diploma level. Short courses in safety and hazardous area. 15 years minimum experience following formal training/apprenticeship in the installation, maintenance, repair and overhaul of a wide variety of low, medium and high voltage rotating, control and protection equipments. To be fully conversant with standards pertaining to electrical equipment and plant installed in hazardous areas and to fully understand fault diagnosis and troubleshooting of sophisticated electrical logic and relay control systems. A minimum of two years in a supervisory capacity would be necessary.

Primary Purpose of the Job
-Supervises, co-ordinates and participates in the activities of subordinate Technicians in the routine electrical maintenance, overhaul and breakdown repair of the 33 KV, 11KV, 3.3KV and 415V distribution network system, including all associated switchgear and control systems within Gas Distribution Stations. 
-Equipment and plant includes: Emergency Diesel generators, Ex HT & LT motors, transformers, lighting systems, H.V. motors, fire water pumps, motor operated valve actuator system, Protective relays, UPS system & rectifier/Battery chargers, cathodic protection transformers/ systems etc. 
-Ensures the SAP generated preventative maintenance programmes are implemented, as well as assisting in the development of improving ongoing and future preventative maintenance.
-The job exists to provide efficient and quality maintenance of electrical equipments of Gas Distribution facilities. Responsible for ensuring that safe working procedure is strictly complied with, switches are properly isolated, ladders properly secured, warning notices posted etc. Ensures that subordinate technicians strictly follow QP’s safety procedures. 
-Nonadherence to above working procedures will lead to unsafe plant conditions & failure of
Plant / equipments giving rise to substantial revenue losses.

Principal Accountabilities
-Supervises, co-ordinates and participates in the activities of subordinate Technicians within the areas of Gas Distribution Station facilities to include a variety of low and high voltage rotating equipment complete with their associated control systems. 
-Ethane Gas Compressor Motors, motor operated valves, air compressors and all associated electrical distribution and control systems. Supervises, monitors and directs company nominated trainees with particular reference to Qatari development.
-Receives incoming job requests through the computer based planning system (SAP), and discusses detailed work steps with his superior. 
-Determines priorities, materials required and estimates man-hours. 
-Passes completed tasks to the Planning and Projects Department for inclusion in the SAP “Job History” programmes. 
-Estimates the order requirements of spare parts, tools and support services. Checks up at interim stages of on-going work stages through to completion.
-Supervises the work and progress of subordinate technicians as necessary to ensure that priorities are attended to and urgent work and projects are completed.
-Prepares processes and maintains files and records for a variety of documents relating to electrical work in assigned areas. Includes completing or checking various administrative forms such as Materials Requisition/Issue/Return forms, completes time-sheets and passes onto his Engineer for authorization. 
-Keeps log of activities and prepares daily reports of ongoing installation, maintenance and modification works with significance to specific actions taken, details of time spent and overtime worked. 
-Implements and reports progress on Preventative Maintenance Work, including testing and inspection data and equipment histories of work performed on all electrical equipment in assigned areas by tag number.
-Supervises and participates in co-ordination with his Engineer, the execution of daily work
programs including all routine corrective work on a wide range of electrical and related system like high and low voltage motors and transformers, generators, relays, switchgear and centralized and remote electrical control panels in the various areas of the plant, such as buildings, workshop, sub-stations, control rooms.
-Ensures that technical records of all related electrical equipments /plant including maintenance and breakdown records are maintained. Co-ordinates with the Electrical Engineer on the updating of “As-built” drawings regarding technical data and modifications of electrical equipments /plant and control systems.
-Participates in project and contract work including the installation, modification repair and maintenance of electrical equipments and plant during planned shutdowns and special project work. 
-Assists the Electrical Engineer in the design and conception of engineering modifications.
-Reviews and examines manufacturers manuals, data and diagrams to become familiar with systems operations, technical specifications and complex maintenance/repair of new type equipments. Co-ordinates and directs in co-operation with his Engineer all shutdown and project work, tests and inspects completed work carried out by Contractors.
-Co-ordinates with Engineer, workshop activities to ensure that materials and spare parts are stored and used in a cost effective manner. 
-That test gear and portable electrical equipments are maintained and serviced regularly.
-Ensures that sufficient equipments and spares are immediately available so that routine and vital electrical equipments are kept functional at all times. 
-Arranges the stripping and storage of redundant electrical equipments to minimize the cost of replacing defective items on similar working equipments.
-Carries out other similar or related duties such as assisting the Electrical Engineer in the preparation of the section’s planned maintenance by inputting and updating equipment history records into the computer based maintenance planning systems.
-Ensures that the history and maintenance data entered in the computer based maintenance system is significant, concise and in good English.
-This position holder is responsible to provide efficient and quality maintenance of electrical equipments of Gas Distribution facilities. -Assists and advises in complex faultfinding. Includes carrying out installation, modification and fault-finding work on various types of low, medium and high voltage rotating and control equipments within Gas Distribution System, Marine Terminal, Tank Farm facilities and NGL complex common facilities within the Mesaieed Facilities.
