Job Summary:
Performs skilled level work in the fabrication, maintenance and repair of a variety of metal parts and tools using all workshop machine equipments. Employ’s a high degree of accuracy and precision in performing work according to instructions and specifications.
Job Responsibilities:
-Receives instructions from the workshop supervisor in the form of oral instructions, penciled layouts, blue prints, sketches and by reference to worn or broken parts.
-Determines work methods and procedures but the work is subject to inspection during the process and upon completion for a quality and conformity with the requirements.
-Fabricates, maintains and repairs metal objects through the operation of lathes, shapers, planers, milling machines, drill press, hydraulic presses and other similar equipment.
-Performs milling, welding, fabrication and lathe works on electro-mechanical equipment such as electric motors & alternators, pumps, shaft journals, impellers, bearing housings, blowers etc. -Use, adjust, cleans and stores the tools, machinery and equipment of the machinist’s trade.
-Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work process and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality streamline service.
-Knowledgeable of job related materials, tools, methods and standard practices of the machinist trade.
-Perform measurements of motor components like housing and shaft journal using micrometers, calipers & bore gauge.
-Complete required paper works for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
-Keep area neat and clean for every end of the day/duty.
-Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by the workshop supervisor.
-Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gears (especially eye and hand protection).
Experience:
-At least 3 to 5 years experience in a rotating machinery workshop.
-Capable of operating lathes, milling, boring and welding machines, radial drills, etc.
-Familiar with all hazards and safety precautions of the machines trade.
-Ability to read and interpret schematics and blue printed drawings.
-Familiar with the standard bearing fitting tolerance on housing and shaft journal.
Qualification:
-Age between 30 to 40 years old.
-High School or Vocational Graduate.
-With 2 years technical training as machinist.
-Good communication in English – reading, writing & speaking.
